You can tell by the title, because all of you know me so well, that I really don't have anything to blog about. I would, and you as well, have something to write about. But, today my brain is well, to put it simply, blank. To be sure, I have thoughts, etc., rambling around in my head, I can't think of anything, of interest!
I have a book called "14,000 Thing To Be Happy About". This book has, 14,000 (duh) that I use from time to time when I am suffering from writer's block. And, yes, this is really a condition.
As I approach 70, later this year, I have some gray hair, around my face. I think it looks good. Since I can't see the top of my head, I don't know how much gray is up there. I've noticed a trend where women, and some of them are quite young, have colored their hair gray, or streaks of gray. I, do admire ladies with gray locks. And, that makes me sound like a loon.
My mother never colored her hair. She didn't need to. Unlike some people, who have lost most of their natural color, Mom didn't. Oh, to be sure, she dyed her hair, but some color that made her brown hair look red (in my opinion), and I didn't think it was a good match for her.
There is on the market, hair dyes that you can use to color your hair purple, pink, etc. I don't want to look like a punk rocker (is that still a thing). I would, however, like to put some gray hair non-permanent hair dye, on parts of my hair. Just
dye" strands of hair, just to see how I look. And, it may be a "hit or miss" kind of thing. Still, I'm curious. I guess, who wouldn't be.
I'm not vain, and we've already established that fact. Just wanting to try out something new.
Happy Saturday.

Just Ramblings
6/7/2019
I head my brain scanned yesterday. It would be terrible, if they came back and said that "there was nothing in there" (joke obviously)!
While it's not raining, for once this week, but it's a gloomy day outside.
While watching tv shows, I have noticed a trend for the host of these reality hunting shows, for gold, etc., wears a scarf around his neck. Perhaps, this is a fashion "thing". And, if it is, it's just one more thing I'm not "hip" about.
People on Survivor, put bandannas on their head, and they manage to put these things on and around the head, and it looks great. I have bought several "turbans". I don't know how these people on the show, make those bandannas work on their heads in many different ways. I bought a turban like "scarf" (I actually don't know what they're called), but whenever I put it on, I just look stupid. And, of course, that's not the look I was aiming for. I, I believe, that I look like somebody who doesn't know what to do with these turban things. And, they would be right. As a teenager, I was "cool". I wore those fishnet stockings (ladies, do you remember those), stirrup pants, and I know these are probably available now, but sadly, I don't have the body for these pants anymore. But, back in the "day", I rocked those pants.
Leggings. I have seen these pants, for lack of a better word, on women who just shouldn't wear them. I, do have a pair of leggings, in black. No patterns for me. I don't want to call attention to myself when wearing these things. And, because who I am, I bought a pair that was slightly larger than I need. Dignified at all cost!
I, also see in stores, people who are, riding around in those stupid riding carts. I believe that some people are pushing the weight limit. I do appreciate that they need these scooters, but really feel bad when I see an obese person in the scooters, who clearly just don't fit. I hate these scooters, because people walk in front and around me, as if I wasn't even there. But, walking through a store these days, just isn't an option for me anymore. Even when I was out for my play date on Monday, and using my rollator most of the time, which allows me to sit down when I need to, literally wore me out.
This is a person who used to play racquet ball, and was pretty good at the game. Okay, I was a "few" pounds lighter, and not suffering from any pain in my body. Can't say the same for me now.
Signing off for now.

Celebrating
6/6/2019
Elvis has left the building - oops I mean Trump! It's a mistake that almost anyone can or could make. And, for now he is safely oversea, but folks he's going to return. He may be gone, but he continues to twitter his thoughts, and if you thought my blogs can sometimes meander, his do as well. Okay, enough about him. You know that I try to steer away from politics. So, that's all I have to say on the matter.
Moving on. Today, is the birthday of my soon-to-be daughter-in-law, Wendy. I can't begin to tell you what a difference she has made in Scott's life. And, Jeff and I are very happy that she loves and cares for him. Scott, is coming out of his shell, if you will, and it's a wonderful thing to see. A mother couldn't ask for more. Since I didn't have a daughter of my own, I consider Wendy and Stacey to be my daughters now. And, I couldn't be happier. As a bonus, Wendy has a daughter, and I, at long last, get to buy presents for a "pink" child. Such fun. I will have to admit, that buying for a girl, is a bit out of my league, but I'm trying my best, truly I am.
Today, after worrying about whether I was just being an old person when it comes to memory, I'm having a brain scan (such fun) to see what's up there. My neighbor asked me if I really wanted to know if there was anything wrong - dementia, etc. I told her yes. My short term memory is pretty much in the toilet, and has been since 2013. Jeff will tell me something, and if I "turn around", I've already forgotten what he said. Of course, I could and often do, write down, for instance, like writing a grocery list. Once on paper, lots of times I truly don't remember where I put the list. This is all maddening to me, and frustrating for Jeff. But, assuredly I really am doing my best. Trust me, I don't intentionally try Jeff's patience, but I do. And, I understand how tiring that can be.
Signing off for now. More tomorrow.

Oops - Forgot to blog yesterday - apologies
6/5/2019
What a wonderful day I had yesterday. Wendy, Stacey and Benjamin took me out for a "play date." These two beautiful daughters-in-law and Benjamin stopped whatever they had going on in their busy lives, to take me to lunch. Oh, and shopping too! My world generally consists of Costco and WalMart. With the exception of Michael's, and Target, I haven't been in any other stores for years.
Lovely lunch looking over the water. I was wondering what I was going to eat. But, then I landed on a cheeseburger, and it was yummy, all four or five bites of it. My french fries I gave to Benjamin. It's hard to maintain your diet when you eat out.
After lunch, we stopped and bought Ben and Jerry's ice cream. It was a hot day, and even though my ice cream was in a cup, it melted fast. And, that's how my pants (which I proudly can now wear) ended up with drips of chocolate ice cream on them. Challenge today is to soak the pants and use soap and elbow grease to hopefully remove the stains. Fingers crossed.
In my visit with a personal trainer last week, he told me that the shoes I was wearing, shouldn't be worn outside. Great. The real problem is, that after all the nonsense over the last few years, my right is now wider and longer. The shoes that are in my closet, don't really fit me anymore.
We stopped at a shoe store, and trying on multiple pairs of shoes, in several different sizes, and a few frustrated tears on my part, I found a shoe that really fits the right foot, and the left foot will just come along for the ride!
I see nothing in the upcoming months, that will allow this stupid foot to shrink! Can that happen? I'm not sure. If I have the part of my spine simulator surgically removed, I will then be able to have a MRI test for my right foot and leg. There's definitely something wrong, unless it's just a condition of old age, and I don't want that to be the answer. But, frustrated with the many different approaches I have gone through over the last few years, I want/need answers. Am I going to have to live with this stupid foot for the rest of my days? Horrors.
My new shoes that I believe have enough "tread" on them to be used outside, are also tie shoes. I was hesitant to buy them, but Stacey said that there was a solution. And, sure enough, a quick search with Amazon, showed me this little device that you put your laces in somehow, and then after putting your shoes on, you pull on this thing, and the laces tighten up. Sense when it comes to doing new things, I can generally manage to "muss" things up. And, this is where Jeff comes in!
My car, which I hope, nope scratch that, will drive again is back home after some mechanical work. While I'm not driving, I suggested to Jeff that we buy a cover for the car, that will allow the car to stay clean and not subjected to our weather system.
Back tomorrow.

A Wonderful Day Outside
6/3/2018
Yesterday afternoon, Mother Nature opened up the heavens and poured rain and what my Grandmother used to call it, when I was young "simply potatoes in the sky falling out of their basket". Well, if she was looking for a really, terrible day in the neighborhood, then she succeeded.
The sky turned an ominous green and later some shade of yellow, before all our weather stopped. Definitely, the rain is good at this time of year, as it is essential for new grass to grow. On the other hand, it also helps out weeds - which we can do without.
I've been following Trump's visit to England. Surely, he must have been schooled in the way to great the Queen. Alas, I guess he wasn't such a good student. Firstly, he walked before the Queen, and that's just not done. It's something that I thought everybody knew about, but apparently not.
There will be a royal banquet at the Palace sometime during Trump's visit. Interesting face - before setting the table, "servants", I guess you could call them that, walk on the dining room table wearing socks of some kind or another. Once the table has been set, the Queen comes down to inspect the room and gives her seal of approval, and sometimes perhaps not.
Normally, when the Queen is finished with her meal, it means that the dinner is over. Knowing this, the Queen apparently tries to eat slowly, so that the guests can finish their meal. But, once she's done eating, so are you. Some of Trump's favorite foods: Diet Coke, Taco Bowls, Big Macs and Fried Chicken for starters. I guess, you have already figured out that none of these foods or drink will be served at the state dinner. Bummer for Trump.
When Dad and I went to England many years ago, ice wasn't routinely served with cold beverages. We had to ask for ice, and when the ice arrived, it generally consisted of one or two cubes.
In our hotel room, our "breakfast" (scones, orange juice and I'm sure something else) was put outside our door at night. Dad and I would open the window and put the orange juice on the ledge, to hopefully chill it enough for the morning. Luckily, we didn't have any juice fall over the side. That would be messy, to say the least.
I'm sure what foods will be served at the State Dinner, are some foods I will never even heard of. Fancy foods you know. Names hard to pronounce. but be sure that what ever is served, will be served with perfection. Whether Trump will be impressed, is hard to say.
Our dinner tonight is likely to be meatloaf and baked potatoes.

Yesterday, I had a personal trainer come to "evaluate" me. The evaluation was painful, but I knew/know that for me to get my physical health back, things are just going to hurt. I have a 5 year goal: return to Maui to celebrate our 50th anniversary. I think, nope I know, that I'll do everything possible so that my dream will become a reality.
The therapist had me get on the floor, and then get up. My getting up definitely resembled a whale out of water. A lot of floundering was done on my part.
A number of things he asked me to do, were for the most part, doable, but also painful. For instance, if I am laying down on my left side, then my hip which suffers from some kind of itis (made up word, but you get the idea), didn't like that position at all. Also, the use of my right arm to help pull myself up onto a chair, has caused me a lot of pain, even 24 hours later.
For the most part, I liked the trainer, but I have another trainer coming this week. After I see this trainer, then I can make a decision about which trainer I want to work with. The cost of a trainer is reasonable, for the most part. $50.00 an hour, twice a week is manageable. This trainer believed that I needed training three times a week, and I know he's right. But the cost of these sessions can add up quickly.
Knowing all that, I have several items on my bucket list:
So, there you have it. This is a picture of the lobby. Lovely, lovely.

- Travel to Hawaii, Maui in particular
- Take a cruise to anywhere
- Go to Italy
- Be able to get my body into the plane with less difficulty
- Be able to walk without assistance (wheel chair, stupid carts in stores).
- Vacation with the boys et al at the Outer Banks, like we used to. Two weeks at the beach, would be wonderful!
- Road trip with Stacey and Wendy to Illinois. There are lots of things to do in Chicago. The hotel? Has to be the Palmer House, because that's where I stayed on a field trip while I was in high school. We teenage girls had a fantastic time there.
- And, as long as I'm in Illinois, go see my brother.
So, there you have it. This is a picture of the lobby. Lovely, lovely.

Step One
6/1/2019
Hard to imagine that the year is half-over. Did we have fun since the start of the year. I'm hoping that you did.
Now about one step. Jeff and I have been married 45 years, and still haven't managed to kill each other! We've gone the distance and have suffered equally good and bad times.
Here's my plan. In five years, to celebrate our 50th anniversary, I want to go back to Maui. On our honeymoon, we were on a pretty tight budget. But, even so, I believe I should have a souvenir from each trip. Since money was tight, we bought a round candle that had a beautiful design. I think the design is called millefore (sp), which reminds me of the hard candy Mom bought each year. Each piece, if cut in half had a flower, etc., inside.
Oh, were was I? I remember now. Honeymoon, Maui and a candle. We have never lit the candle, but if we get to Maui, I'm taking the candle with us to be used in Hawaii. Not too sentimental right?
First personal trainer is coming today. It's an evaluation visit, and I will probably get an "F" regarding everything physical! But, you have to start somewhere.
It's a glorious day outside, and likely Jeff and Bella will find some place to go, with the top down, of course.
