Yesterday was a disaster as far as my blog was concerned. Let's see if I can do better today!
Our lawn people came yesterday, to remove the very large arborvitaes on the side of the house. They, like everything else, are 32 years old. You can clearly see that Jeff and I hang on to our possessions, whether they are outside or inside!
Anyway, when the tree people came, they did take down one Leland Cypress, and then went to town on trimming the remaining trees. Once we get approval from the HOA, the rest of the trees will be removed. It's a lengthy process. Signatures from 4 neighbors, our plot plan, and either pictures or written diagram of what is being removed. Frankly Scarlett, I don't think the HOA should have to be involved.
The guys (on the hottest day of the year), took their ladders, and removed dead branches off the trees. Our dogwood tree had a very low branch, and they cut that off as well.
Years ago, Jeff and Scott would be able to chop the trees down - but that leaves the stumps! Oh, and another little thing, Jeff doesn't do ladders anymore, which is a good thing.
This morning, the crew is back to grind down the stumps. Just because you cut down a tree, the stump remains firmly planted in the ground. Our backyard frankly has never looked so good. Correction, once the trees are removed, and other plants or trees are planted, then the backyard will look good. The girls have apparently gotten over removing bark from trees, and digging holes! There is hope for them yet.
We have a neighbor (man), who is like an old woman, when it comes to something or anything is done on the street. We are going through the required process, because in this neighborhood, the neighbors (not all of them mind you), are quick to turn you into the HOA for possible violations. Really? Get a life.
Oh, how I long for the 6 foot cement walls we had in California. Those walls make for good neighbors.
We are having an arborist (sp) come out today to look at the Pin Oak in our front yard. We had someone come out before, and he gave us a multi-page document for services he thought we needed. We signed up for soil samples around the oak tree. Last week, we got a bill for said work, but no report on what the soil specimen showed. I believe, that since we weren't going to be a high paying customer, the company lost interest in us. I'm hoping for a more interested company that comes out today.
The landscape guys are back this morning, on the second hottest day of the year, to grind down stumps.
If you don't believe it's cool enough inside, just step outside!
Okay, that's about all the one hand typing I can do today. More tomorrow.
